Nitinol tube for biomedicine

Superior shape memory alloy, super elastic nickel titanium, Nitinol tube for biomedicine

PRODUCT

Superior shape memory alloy, super elastic nickel titanium, Nitinol tube for biomedicine.

OVERVIEW

Nitinol is a unique material. No other material exhibits the mechanical shape memory superelasticity and the thermal shape memory effects. This is especially true for Nitinol tubing. Tube surface roughness of the finished tube is one of the most critical specifications for the quality and the lifecycle of your finished device. Surface defaults of the finished stent cannot be removed by electro polishing. Cracks and deformations will remain. So an unique tube production technology that can avoid cracks and obtain a better inner surface is key important.

SPECIAL PROPERTIES OF NITINOL

1 Shape memory

2 Super elastic

3 Sensitivity to changes in oral temperature

4 Good corrosion resistance

5 Toxin immunity

6 Gentle corrective force

7 Good shock absorption characteristics

BIOMEDICINE APPLICATION

Applications of Nitinol tube for biomedicine include peripheral stents, cardio stents, catheters, superelastic needles, catheter shafts, distal protection, laproscopes, endoscopic guide tubes, orthodontic guidewires, heart valve frames and other medical devices for the human body.

ACTIVE Af TEMPERATURE

The austenite finish temperature of the finished tube (active Af) with outer diameter in the range of 0.3 to 3.0 mm (0.012 to 0.12 in.) shall be measured on representative full round tube sample(s) using the bend and free recovery method described in Test Method ASTM F 2082-15.

ADVANTAGE

1. First of all, all incoming Nitinol raw materials are subjected to third party inspection to ensure they meet proprietary specifications for chemistry, transformation temperature, material homogeneity, and microstructure. To promote an exceptionally smooth and uniform surface finish quality, all wire and tube products utilize a high precision single and or multi-crystalline diamond drawing die technology. After the correct super-elastic heat treatment, medical grade nickel-titanium materials can undergo up to 8% strain without permanent bending at human temperature.

2. All our Niti tubes are made according to customers specifications.

3. OD surface roughness can be up to Ra 0.1 µm(Ra).

4. ID surface roughness can be as low as Ra 0.2 µm(Ra). We have mature drawing process that avoids the need for slurry cleaning, chemical cleaning or mechanical removal operations on the inner surface of the drawn tube.

5. ID and OD surfaces can be customized, OD - Etched / centerless ground / oxide, ID – Premium ID capability for implants / etched / slurry finished / oxide / oxide free.

6. Concentricity tolerances: up to 0.01 mm.

7. Wall tolerances: as narrow as ± 0.0075 mm.

8. Material can be provided as super elastic or higher transformation temperature shape memory

9. Advantages Nitinol tube over stainless steel hypotube.

■ Kink and crush resistance

■ Flexibility

■ Large amount of recoverable deformation

■ Generation of constant or low forces over a wide range of deformation

■ Energy storage and restoration
